Walk to School Day 2009

On a beautiful October 7 morning, children across Bartlesville joined children around the world in International Walk to School Day!  Parents were encouraged to walk with their children, park and walk, or organize walking school buses.  While all Bartlesville children were encouraged to participate, special events were held at Kane, Oak Park, Wayside, and Wilson.  Those schools were officially registered with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation who provided banners, balloons, and prizes for the schools' events.  The events were a great success at the four schools, with over 680 total walkers and bikers participating!  Other walking events were planned for throughout the day; so, even those arriving by bus or car could participate in healthy walking activities.
