2010 Bicycle Rodeo

Fun, Free, Safety-Oriented Event for Learning and Developing Safe Bicycle Riding Practices!

Our Bicycle Rodeo event was FABULOUS!

DATE:  Saturday, May 1, 2010
LOCATION:  ConocoPhillips parking lot, west of the railroad tracks
TIME:  9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

This free event was targeted to children in Kindergarten through 5th grade.

 

This was a safety-oriented event; so, helmets were required!  We had helmets to loan as well as helmets for sale at a discounted price.











Children rode their bikes through 7 skills courses that taught them how to stop safely, dodge obstacles, watch out for cars, negotiate intersections, and more.










Each child received a participation award, and 2 bicycles were given away!  We had popcorn, water, and SMOOTHIES.  The smoothies were the big hit of the day!  After finishing the skills courses, the kids hopped on the bike blender and pedaled up their own healthy smoothie.





VOLUNTEERS ARE AWESOME!
A total of 75 volunteers helped with pre-event set up, event duties, and post-event clean up.  A BIG THANKS to everyone who helped!
